On October 29, 2012 Hurricane Sandy, one of the worst storms to ever hit New York City, caused unprecedented damage to property throughout the city. Thousands of people in public housing were left without gas, electricity and other essentials and their homes in need of repairs.
NYCHA Emergency Assessments
Within 24 hours after notification, two AFG project managers reported to the New York City Housing Authority to offer assistance. By the next day, AFG had launched two inspection teams, consisting of a project manager and 4-5 inspectors per team. The two teams worked non-stop for the next 5 days performing building assessments and site inspections at 20 different housing developments throughout the following developments:

Mayor’s Office Rapid Repair
AFG was then contacted by the NYC Mayor’s office to oversee and perform quality control on the repair contractor’s work. AFG assembled 20 inspectors, who began in Staten Island and later progressed to the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn. Within 3 months, AFG had successfully completed and closed out over 3,000 homes/projects.
